The Balearic Islands: a sustainable tourist destination

At the FITUR tourism fair, Baleària presented the new series of eco fast ferries for the Ibiza-Formentera route: four newly-built catamarans with great innovations in services and smart technology to go further in energy efficiency and comfort for all passengers.

These comfortable Spanish-built catamarans measure 28 metres in length, can carry up to 350 passengers and can sail at speeds of up to 27 knots, allowing them to complete the crossing in half an hour. The first of these boats, EL ECO AQUA, began sailing last December while the rest of the fleet will be active in summer.  This will allow for a better connection between the two islands and is a sustainable and environmentally friendly operation that will help to turn the Balearic Islands into a sustainable tourist destination.
